Purge Air Units and Accessories
The primary purpose of the purge air system is to protect the high voltage support insulators from moisture and dust that could accumulate on the surface of the insulators and cause them to fail. However, by heating the insulator surface before start-up to prevent condensation and by maintaining a constant flow of heated, dry air through the insulator to prevent flue gas from entering, support insulators will last many years.
SEI custom designs each purge air system to satisfy the specific requirements of the application. The temperature, pressure and volume of the purge air are critical design parameters that will vary from job site to job site.
